So I bounced back to 8th grade to teach ELA. I enjoyed this for a time, but I started to get imposter syndrome. I was trained to be a math teacher, not an ELA teacher.
And I missed teaching math.
So...I went back to teaching 8th grade math. But this time I decided to embrace a different approach.
I wasn't going to focus on and worry about standardized tests or discipline. Yes, they would still be concerns, but I wasn't going to lead with those former speed bumps.
I was going to put my students' well-beings first. And love them where they are at. Teach as little as possible and never ridicule.
In other words, all of the things that became the pillars of The Sloppy Classroom.
Then something happened. I started enjoying teaching again. I felt good about myself. Not only was I teaching content that I loved and was comfortable with, I was interacting with my students in a way that felt right to me...
...In a way that was best for them. I was focused on their well-being ; yes, academically, but equally socially and emotionally.
I can't lie, this new hierarchy makes things a little frantic. Noisy. Chaotic.

Each issue of The John Lindholm Letter is sent to the print shop on the first business day of the month.
For instance, if you started your trial on July 15th, your first issue will be sent to the print shop on August 1st (assuming August 1st is a business day).
The print shop takes 1-2 business days to print, package, and ship your issue.
For U.S. customers: Your issue will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail (it takes 1-3 business days to arrive).
